I just happened to be meting a guy for lunch so I was able to drive past the nearest urgent care. 48 minutes, I thought it was closer. But I'm just a poor white dirt farmer so it's ok.

No one came even moderately close to implying this.

No, I don't. Because pointing out that black people are disproportionately affected by poverty and the problems that come with it doesn't mean that white people can't be poor and have problems.

No I am, but since I'm not black it's ok to have to go 48 min to urgent care. Maybe that's why it's so hard for me to understand you guys. 45 min is close to me, $15 min wage? I haven't made half that an hour in 6 years. Nearest grocery store, 10 miles and its certainly not chock full of healthy alternatives. Reliable transportation? My daily driver is an 88 Chevy truck. I do have a 98 buy it broke down 8 months ago and I can't afford to fix it.

My wife does have a decent job, not crazy paying but she supports my farming addiction. And I'm not using the term addiction as a joke.

We're the same, you and me Diddy, even though you're a poor white dirt farmer and I'm a snobby white urban bon vivant.

Some of those ways are that we can afford to take an hour to meet a friend for lunch, we know where our closest urgent care facility is, and we can get there in what is a convenient enough time for us and not feel out of place going there. We also were raised in an environment in which routine doctor visits for preventative care and maintenance were de rigueur rather than a foreign concept.

With issues like this, and it's a very complex one, we have to acknowledge some basic truths about what it means to be alive in America. And one of those very basic truths is that not all Americans live the same life or have the same experience or the same access. There are doors that appear open, and technically they are but practically they're closed and triple-locked.

Believe it or not, there are people in the world that are even poorer than you are. That does not imply that you haven't had to work hard and overcome obstacles to get to where you are. But if that's true then you should have empathy towards people struggling to survive, not look down on them.

I don't want to speak for diddy....but I don't think he's looking down upon anyone. He's just saying that his closest urgent care facility is also 45 min away and he realizes that's still a better option than going to the ER if its not a true emergency situation even if the ER is 10 minutes from his place.

Right, but when your response to that situation is "it's their fault our healthcare system is messed up, are they freeloaders?" and not "let's provide these people with affordable healthcare," what is he really saying?
