I have some good news to share. We went to the vet over the weekend, and they gave us an anti-inflammatory and two painkillers. They have cheered her up a lot, and she's moving around now. Still yips if you touch her in the wrong spot though - it appears she has some issue with her lower back, or a disc. I hope she doesn't have to be drugged up forever, or have surgery, but at the least, Duncan is beagling around a little more like usual now.

Are beagels prone to back problems? My parents have always had dachsunds, seems like about every other dog had an issue with it's back.

According to some reading on the internets, beagles and bassets are prone to disc/back problems.

Walking the Big Galoot -there are two old guys in the hood that each own golden lab pups. Naturally their pups are drawn to the Big Galoot, the King Mufasa bad ass Alpha Dog of golden labs and the canine world. But these old [expletive] are complete [expletive] - one browbeats his pup mercilessly until it's cowering for mercy. The other does that as well, plus makes it wear some medieval torture device to go on walks.

Why can't these old [expletive] just pass their days commenting on facebook and internet news articles instead of messing up good animals.

We had to put our nearly-16-year-old pup down a couple months ago. Our house just felt so empty without a four-legged friend. So our family grew by one over the weekend!
