It's because when someone launches into a discussion questioning La Russa, it's usually closer to a rant than clear level-headed reasoning. Is it so hard to start a debate with having to resort to these wild statements about a team or manager first.GatewaySnayke wrote:Jesus, why is it that every time someone launches into a discussion questioning La Russa's moves, 10 people stand up and defend the guy and act like he invented baseball?
If you really want a fair discussion, starting them with things like "I hate this team" or "La Russa's dumb moves" isn't the best way to go... even if those are you're personal opinions.

Were my reasons laced with profanity? Did they smack off irrationality? I do hate this team, because it's a lesser version of last season's team, which was not good to start with. And what does it matter if I have lost faith in La Russa or not really? Am I supposed to defer to him at all times because he is The Genius?clement wrote:With all due respect, you're the one who said you "hate" this team, that you have "zero faith" in LaRussa, using terms like "dumb" and "boneheaded" to describe him. Do you really think that's how to initiate a civilized and intelligent discussion questioning his moves?GatewaySnayke wrote:Jesus, why is it that every time someone launches into a discussion questioning La Russa's moves, 10 people stand up and defend the guy and act like he invented baseball?

Your opinions are your opinions. They're pretty strong opininos and you can state them any way you feel like. But don't be shocked when 10 people respond with equally strong disagreement.GatewaySnayke wrote:Were my reasons laced with profanity? Did they smack off irrationality? I did offer reasoning as to why La Russa was bad last night.maddash wrote:It's because when someone launches into a discussion questioning La Russa, it's usually closer to a rant than clear level-headed reasoning. Look, I'm not expecting everyone to side with me on Duncan starting over Taguchi, or the squeeze or anything else that may happen over the course of the next 161 games. But if I think the moves are dumb and boneheaded, why shouldn't I say as such? We aren't debating something extremely serious in the middle of a library.

That's not my problem so much as it is "oh how DARE you question the great La Russa!"clement wrote:Your opinions are your opinions. What the hell does LaRussa have to do to get the benefit of the doubt anyway?
For Chrissake - the best 10 years of baseball by this team and reigning champs and this is what he gets. Feh.
