Well, I was thinking that LSU had two losses, not one. I'm basically a really bad fact checker.

Regardless of your fact-checking abilities, the BCS stadings as of last week had LSU second and Oregon third. Oregon didn't play, so the only way they were jumping over OSU or LSU was if one of those teams lost.
Also:
At least the BCS computers took note of the fact that Mizzou beat Illinois, which just knocked off the number one team in the country. The Tigers BCS number was .720 last week, but this week it has jumped way up to .830. Even taking into account the Tigers being below WVU in the human polls, have an edge of ~.025 points in the BCS rankings. That's a grand canyon compared to the .0012 difference between the programs as of last week.
Also:
Not to blow my own horn, but maybe ESPN should be calling me up to host a BCS show. I also don't understand how West Virginia can be ranked ahead of Mizzou. They lost to South Florida at home, which isn't even ranked at this point. The Tigers lost to Oklahoma in Norman, and Oklahoma is 4th in the BCS and 3rd in AP and USA Today polls.BenNX74205 wrote:In my uneducated guess of where they will fall, I would say OSU would slot into the rankings between West Virginia/Mizzou (who will end up 5th and 6th in some order) and Boston College/Arizona State.

Meh, it would only be Slaten of me if I ranked Missouri as 53rd and said that this win counted as a loss because they only won by 14.lukethedrifter wrote:Slatenesque, really.GatewaySnayke wrote:Well, I was thinking that LSU had two losses, not one. I'm basically a really bad fact checker.

I really hope someone posts a recap of the drivel he spews today regarding Missouri, and college football in general. I'm sure it will be good for a laugh.GatewaySnayke wrote:Meh, it would only be Slaten of me if I ranked Missouri as 53rd and said that this win counted as a loss because they only won by 14.lukethedrifter wrote:Slatenesque, really.GatewaySnayke wrote:Well, I was thinking that LSU had two losses, not one. No. Don't go getting your feelings hurt, Snayke. I was pointing out that your fact checking- not you- was Slatenesque. For when you are the King, Carpe Diem, facts only get in the way of truthiness.GatewaySnayke wrote:Meh, it would only be Slaten of me if I ranked Missouri as 53rd and said that this win counted as a loss because they only won by 14.lukethedrifter wrote:Slatenesque, really.GatewaySnayke wrote:Well, I was thinking that LSU had two losses, not one. OK, time for me to rant about the BCS again.
The current top 10 features only 1 team that is undefeated. Theoretically, that one team (Kansas) will make the championship game if they win out, because that will mean that they beat two other top 5 teams on the way.
Then you have Hawaii at 9-0, and at #16. I can understand this--they haven't played anyone of note. They probably aren't as good as the 15 teams ahead of them.
But there is a very likely possibility that both teams in the championship game will have 1 loss. There is a rather likely possibility that Hawaii goes undefeated, and doesn't even receive an invite to a BCS bowl.
And that's BS.
Why? Because it's BS that a team has zero possibility of winning their sport's championship, no matter how well they play. Every other sport in the world, any team has a chance of winning the championship. But not in Division I (or whatever it's called now) college football. If you're not going to give teams from the WAC, etc. a shot at winning a championship, then don't include that conference in Division I. Heck, just a few years ago a team went undefeated in the SEC and wasn't given a chance to win the championship.
Playoffs. Now. Please.

Re: Latest BCS Rankings: Mizzou @ #6
I've heard some great arguments against. The other day I heard someone from college football talking about how meaningful the regular season is and how that would change with playoffs.
Also, consider that if you are searching for the best team, I think we can all agree- yeah, right- that playoffs don't always determine that either.
I'm not opposed to a playoff, I'm just not sold that it will solve the worlds ills.
