Is this just for prospects? I'm pretty sure a lot of projection systems keep someone like Albert or A-Rod pretty high. In fact, I think Baseball-Prospectus has Albert's 7 year OPS average at .970 or something crazy high like that.
Btw the fact that theres a PECOTA and a PETCOA is confusing as hell.

eh pie fell out, which is fine. had pie not gotten hurt in wt he may still have been there
rasmus has three very good guys: beltran, abreu and floyd.
pies got more: tito francona, jim king, jose cardenal, ruppert jones, jorge orta, bert campaneris and junior felix were all pretty good players. andruw jones, duke snider and grady sizemore are good, no? although one thing to note, a lot of rasmus' comps are prospects, not so much anymore on pie.

yeah i meant prospects. if a 22 year old rookie comes up and hits like braun did, the system might.

No offense, but it's beyond me how a Cub fan could give two squirts about Colby Rasmus as the Cubs get ready to open at home against Milwaukee........

Who cares, it's an interesting subject.

I think the only point Meph is trying to make is that there have been loads and loads of guys who appear amazingly talented who go on to be ordinary garden variety players -- or who do not even make it all. It's an important point, and I'm not sure why he has received so much grief for making it. This board should be a lot better than disregarding sound analysis just because of the fan affiliation of the person doing the analysis (NOT to suggest that Fat is doing that). Betting against ANY strong prospect making it big -- even a prospect as strong as Rasmus -- will be the winning bet some two thirds of the time. And Meph's data show the cautions therein.
I'm pretty sure he received so much grief because every single poster on this forum already understands that he might not pan out the way we want him to. There's no reason a Cardinal fan can't be cautiously optimistic. I just don't see the point in bringing this topic up.
In reply to Michael, it seems like a very uninteresting topic IMO.

I think a detailed look at Rasmus' comps is interesting.
Much more interesting than Meph's fan allegiances, but I guess I'm in the minority there.
