Surprisingly no. It was one of those cool, gray days where the atmosphere didn't get all charged up by thermals. We were up and down in about 4 hours and would have missed the afternoon light show.

what's the trailhead for that route. Blue Lakes? did you need the gear at all?

From short hike off hoosier pass, I'm guessing that is Quandary in background to the NorthWest. errgh, no trip west planned, but getting the fever.

Ummm...is that taken from the summit of that 15,000 ft peak in Indonesia? I forget the name, but had scouted it at one point. You can walk up it with a guide.

This is what it says about it:

The soft lights of our Milky Way galaxy flow across the sky over Mount Kinabalu, a mountain peak on the Malaysian side of the island of Borneo, in a picture taken February 27 and released this week.

The mountain reaches 13,435 feet (4,095 meters) above sea level, offering relatively clear views of the night sky from high above the clouds.
