Unlike the rest of the organization's pitching prospects, maybe what Cijntje is doing is so baffling to Cardinal pitching coaches they leave him alone and don't mess him up.

The Mariners were having him stop - not sure if the Cardinals are interested in him still pitching lefty part time. I really hope he can start every 5 days and eat up some lefty innings between starts - would help roster construction. But it does seem like it might make sense for him to at least throw more Right on Left to get used to what pitches have the best movement against lefties.
The Cards and Bloom went all in. We can all debate whether it was the wise move, but they didn't go half-way and I guess you gotta commend the commitment. The next couple of years are really barren of transformational free agents so gotta hope that the big refresh the Cards are doing with the minors is going to generate some good pieces. The number of draft picks should really help fill the system. Just with the lack of graduates (outside of potentially JJ) and the sheer number of picks I think the Cards may end up having a top 7 system this time next year. As we know that doesnt mean anything if these guys can't develop - but its better than having a bad team AND a bad system.
Next step will be having some legit young MLB talent to at least invest some longer term contracts in and put the money back into the team. Winn, JJ - are they candidates to sign a 6-8 year deal with some options similar to what the A's have been doing with their younger players? That's the next step in turning the franchise around.

If I base this trade off how many times I hit refresh the last two months; I am not impressed.
Reality, all the trades have brought a lot of cost controlled years. Maybe that makes up our whole bullpen and a couple inning eaters. To be honest, that has value. Prices for BOR and relief pitchers have gotten pretty high.
Given what Chaim had to work with, he probably has done as good, if not better than expected. Hopefully all those draft picks this year finds some bats. Still don’t understand our C situation or why JoJo is t traded.

I think I’ll be watching Gray’s starts, then Cardinals games, then Red Sox games that don’t conflict with Cardinals games. I can’t watch Mariners games on MLB.TV because I’m in their TV territory but my cousin just gave me access to her YouTube TV for about half of what I was paying for Sling TV and I think I can get Mariners games on that. If so, I’ll watch Donnie play for the Mariners if their games don’t conflict with Cardinals games and Red Sox games (I’m more interested in watching Contreras than Donovan).

A fifth starter who may (unlikely) come in as a left-handed reliever twice a month?
Not a bad player. Not a good one either.
