Holy fork! I knew there was a lot of fan speculation, but I figured that was just because Kyrou was the whipping boy. Geez.

So uh, is our second line Neighbors-Dvo-Buch? Because if so, yikes for next year.

Returns feels a little light/sold low in my gut, but I admittedly know nothing about the two prospects except what I’ve scanned over the last 10 minutes. Getting 16 for Kyrou when we got 15 for Faulk (even if we expected it to be mid 20s) feels meh. I just wonder if we are going to see Kyrou pot 150 goals over the next 5 years while we complain about the lack of secondary scoring.

Then again, we’ll see what happens. I didn’t expect us to contend for at least a year. There is time to find another scoring winger.
McMichael isn’t a prospect; he’s a C that had the same amount of points as kyrou did last year; and is younger; and had a down year himself as did kyrou. He’s also a complete 200 foot player (he needs to work on face offs however). He’ll be the 2C and give DVO time to season more as the 3c. Bush had a meh year but was still better than kyrous to be the RW on the 2nd line.

If it would have been an even trade between those 2, I would’ve been ok-ish as I just don’t see kyrou being a complete player ever. And to get the #16, and Gastrin, who I’ve read is another 200 foot player/C in the Swedish league also?

This is a slam dunk/awesome trade IMO

Once carbo is ready sometime next year, I can easily see replacing kyrou’s production

Also Chicago acquired Byram and Greenway from Buffalo. Also Ottawa got Eklund from San Jose.

One of the bigger non trade deadline trade days than I can remember otoh in a long time.

EDIT: Oh and Calgary got Nemec for a lot.

Crazy day.

I mean maybe, but if he’s that bad on faceoffs, is he basically a winger?

Kyrou has had two years with less goals than McM’s career high. Last year and JK’s rookie year. MCM’s other years he had goals in the teens. He’s younger, but it appears to me (and I admit I know little of McM), but it appears that we swapped upside for floor, when we desperately need upside.

I know the writing appeared to be on the wall. I’m willing to wait and see what other moves are made. But in the short and medium term, barring other moves, we have very little secondary scoring. Basically a killer first line and a couple third lines, and a bad 4th line.

But again, that’s at the moment…
