This season of Dexter has been really underwhelming so far. So much of it is like a re-hash of season 1. Once again a detective from the department has suspicions about Dexter and Debra is getting involved with a guy who's trying to mess with her brother. The Lumen girl is at least an interesting angle, especially now that it looks like she's turned Dexter onto a network of human traffickers he can kill.

I predict that Debra and Quinn fall in love. Quinn gets Dexter dead-to-rights and because of his love for Debra offers him a chance to disappear. Dexter and Lumen then go on a road trip together killing all the dudes who tortured her. Debra thinks Dexter is dead and raises Harrison in his honor. Astor and Cody stay with their grandparents.

I'm out this year. Which is weird because I was more in than ever last season. I just lost all my interest in the offseason.

I agree GK. There hasn't been really a 'Holy Crap, what's gonna happen next week' moment for me. It does have a pretty good track record of changing gears mid-season(IMO) and we are one great episode from a hot streak.

[SHOW]
The Lumen thing is also a re-hash, and it's been done twice. First you had Lila, and- TADA!- turns out she was a serial killer/arsonist, and Dex brought it out in her. Then he met Jimmy Smits and- TADA!- Dex brought out the serial killer in him. So now we have Julia Stiles, and guess what? She's vengeful and murderous and of course Dex brings it out in her.

I really enjoy the show, it's a lot of fun and blah blah blah, but it's not particularly well-written. It's very poorly written. But they've got such a dynamite concept that they can get away with it.

And speaking of Quinn fishing around on Dexter, that's twice now that a cop has brought suspicions about Dexter to Laguerta. And both times she's waved her hand and said "Be gone with these suspicions!". This is what I'm talking about with the silliness that surrounds Dexter getting away with murder time and again. It's completely implausible to me that something like that would happen. Laguerta should be fired. And again... that's fine, it's part of the show, blah blah blah. I still like it. But at some point, it really starts to insult the [expletive] out of your intelligence.

Are you an episode ahead or something?

It was in the trailer for the coming weeks. I suppose it's possible it won't wind up happening.

And the final lines from the latest episode.

But the last sentence is another problem I had with the show. They start down side plots all the time an abandon them unresolved. There was a Deb/Doakes thing in Season 1, LaGuerta's flirting that just stops mid season 1. Her cheating in season 2 seemed really dumb. The chief and her flip from good guy to bad guy on a dime - he was a nice guy lookin out for Deb - then a political worry wart and LaGuerta cleans up, then the power plays back and forth. Anyways, it's not very tight/consistent.

They've gotten way away from the books which isn't all bad (the book plots get really weird) but I think that may be why it's getting repitive and more poorly written. The first season was all about his psychology, more inner monologue of what he was thinking and feeling. One of my favorite lines was in the 4th or 5th episodes and the kids are upset (I think it was the barking dog) and he says 'If I had a heart it my be breaking'. Or when he talks about 'civilized people' beating their dinner with hammers. Now it's just his planning kind of, expressing his desires he doesn't show.

Can we put "TV Thread (Spoiler Alert!)" as the title of this thread?
