Anyone watching Squid Game? I'm on ep 3 so far. It's compelling stuff. Like a Running Man episode of Black Mirror.
I loved it. Anti-capitalist narratives are my jam. Episode 6 will break your heart.
The stuff I don't know about South Korean culture and film would fill an encyclopedia, but it's interesting watching this not terribly long after Parasite. They have a lot of similar themes. The obliviousness of the wealthy to the plight of the working poor, the prison of debt, living conditions in the cities, the feeling of despair and hopelessness with poverty, the surveillance/police state. It's interesting, and it's pretty powerful.

This series is great, it's a return to the form of the OJ Simpson season five years ago. There are two episodes left.

One of my best friends, who I've known since kindergarten in St. Louis, is in this show. He plays the journalist Michael Isikoff, who was working on the Lewinsky story when it got killed by his bosses, then scooped by Drudge.

Yes! He was one of the writer/directors of Humboldt County, and also a Wyatt Cenac movie called Growing Up And Other Lies. But he's doing a lot of TV acting roles these days.
