Nice!

Wondered what the status was on this. Great news. Not sure I've ever enjoyed a show more. Nice too that it's another story adaptation and not a revival for it's own sake. I mean it may be that too, but all the same talent is involved and they all care about it.

I've always enjoyed this bizarre coincidence:
The new iteration of the drama series is inspired by the Elmore Leonard novel “City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit.”
...

Olyphant will executive produce in addition to starring. “Justified” creator Graham Yost executive produces along with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, Peter Leonard, Taylor Elmore, and Chris Provenzano, with Elmore and Provenzano also writing for the show.

Awesome! I loved that show. Hope this new storyline is just as awesome as the last one. Interesting that they're having the story start in southern FL again.

I doubt Walter Goggins will return, but perhaps they'll figure out a way to "check in on him".

The Always Sunny guys have a podcast where they talk about the show. Basically the old Theatre Stories skit on SNL but for IASIP. Funny like you’d expect and perfectly cromulent car or workout listening.

How To with John Wilson on HBO is fantastic. Do not miss it. Trust me.
Everyone is sleeping on this show. Just sayin'
On your rec, I'm giving it a go. A few thoughts:

-This guy is on the spectrum, right?
-He really captures some amazing things on film, and somehow edits all of the clips of his self-shot videos into a cohesive storyline. How many discrete self-filmed clips comprise a single episode? 300? 500?
I just made it to the "how to cover your furniture" episode in season one and the foreskin stretching device guy. Wow. There's a lot to unpack here. Whole lot of unexpected schlong here.
I read most of the footage is his, but they also hired some additional people with cameras to shoot additional footage. He said the hardest part is categorizing and organizing all the shots.

I think the 2nd season was way more challenging. During Covid it is a lot harder to get people to talk with him.

I hope you dig the show as much as I do. There's nothing else quite like it on TV.

Anyway, have you seen any good movies lately?
Okay, I’m finally into it. Watched ep. 1 with the wife but she wasn’t a fan. So I decided to watch it while I work out. Problem is I haven’t done much of that lately. Been feeling lousy for a few weeks now but that’s not an excuse since I’ve not been in a good place mentally for a few months now - pandemic blues is what I call it. I am slowly getting into a routine but for now his 25 minute episodes are a perfect match for my endurance.

Anyway, I was fascinated by the Mandela Effect discussion in the memory episode. I’ve experienced remembering things as different than they’ve ever been in reality - I thought the warning on the passenger door mirror said “may be” not “are” and Febreze was Febreeze - but it’s not a concept I would ever go full Brony on like these folks do. I wonder how many members of that group migrated over to Qanon over the last few years.

Yeah, I had a lot of "woah" moments during that episode. I hope you are enjoying the show!

I'm continuing to get rid of my subscriptions. I canceled D+ and ESPN+. I wasn't using D+ and I'm kinda getting sick of MMA, and the UFC in particular. Next up is Peacock. I bought a yearly sub super cheap, but I never really use it. That will expire next week.

That will leave me with HBO (my favorite), Hulu (my wife's main show is on there) and Amazon (mostly for shipping). Those 3 will be my core going forward. Everything else I'll sub month to month and cancel once I've watched what I'm interested in. I'm shocked at how little I miss Netflix.

GK is right. Too many streaming services is a bad thing. I'm much happier with a smaller selection. I no longer endlessly scroll through these services.

definitely. probably been about 8-10 months since i canceled mine and it's just not a thing i think about. i technically can log into D+ from a family members account but the site never saves the log in info so i always have to re-enter it and it's the annoying long strand of letters that i have to go find some old text from my sister in law to even find so i haven't logged into that for months. the only "subscription" service i'm paying for at this point is xbox gamepass and i feel like that is 1) worth the money 2) easier to control as i buy the months i want to have in advance, not just letting it auto-pay every month. hbo max does seem like a decent service and it's another where a brother has offered his log in details but i haven't even asked for it, just meh. maybe if i can find some deal i'd grab it but not looking for it either. not sure what would bring me back to netflix, maybe the new stranger things though i think that show is jumping the shark and will never be as good as the 1st season so who knows. i was a netflix user for like, i dunno, 5+ years and it's so clear now that i should only (re)sub for like a month or 2 and then cancel again on any of the streaming services.

on one hand, i can appreciate TV shows getting better and maybe a little tighter in the writing and only going for like, 3 seasons instead of 12 on network (for commercials) but at this point i really hate the dialogue with being recommended shows. it's *always*..."well, you gotta sit thru X amount of episodes before it gets good, then it really gets good!" and i'm guilty of using this phrase as well but all these streaming shows is now just like, work, an obligation. F that.

The only Netflix content I'm really pining for is the 2nd season of "I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson". If another season of Black Mirror drops I'll want to watch that as well. I'm mildly interested in Squid Games. I agree Stranger Things isn't what is used to be.

Also, I'd say Xbox Game Pass is my favorite sub service. I have that service locked in until 2025. It's pretty easy to find good deals. Have you head of the gold to GP conversation trick? You can get 3 years of GP Ultimate for 180 bucks (or less if you find a deal on gold) if you don't currently have a sub to the service.
