FAMK is a real mixed bag, and lessens in quality as it goes, but I'm a sucker for the subject matter and there always seems to be a reason to keep watching.thrill wrote: ↑January 21 25, 8:33 amThe combination of weather and trump had my feeling like I was living in a cold, hostile environment, and starting for all mankind this weekend was great timing. Has your local meteorologist been axed? Will this contribute to the death of local news, and further polarization of the populace thanks to national news options that seem to be geared towards revenues over objectivity?
Local TV meteorologists deliver tearful farewell as stations replace staff with The Weather Channel feed
Allen Media Group announced sweeping cuts that will see all local meteorologists eliminated or reassigned at its nearly two dozen stations nationwide.
In place of the local weather forecasters will be a national “hub” based in Atlanta led by Carl Parker, a veteran storm and climate specialist at The Weather Channel — which the Byron Allen-owned media group acquired for $300 million in March 2018. The plan will see the locally produced segments replaced by a feed beamed to individual stations from The Weather Channel, which could include some of the stations’ former meteorologists.
The layoffs at roughly two dozen local television stations stretching from Massachusetts to Hawaii will impact at least 50 meteorologists, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person said some of the meteorologists will be offered new positions at The Weather Channel in Atlanta while others will be allowed to remain in their respective markets as part of the initiative.

Agreed. I enjoyed nearly all of the characters, not just the main ones. The Deputy and Judy have some great, understated lines.
I hope it continues, but I haven't seen anything that would indicate it is.

Live from New York, it's... Sunday night? Yeah. Sunday night.
'Saturday Night Live' plans a massive 50th anniversary special. Who's coming and how to watch
The 50th anniversary celebration of “Saturday Night Live” is so big, it's not even on Saturday.
Airing Sunday and spanning three hours, the, yes, live “SNL50: The Anniversary Celebration” will assemble a dream team of stars who have helped the show become an enduring pop culture force, including alumni like Tina Fey and Eddie Murphy, notable hosts like Dave Chappelle and Steve Martin and at least four of the surviving original cast members: Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman.
The show will also pack in musical guests, with Paul McCartney, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus among those scheduled to appear, as well. The special is double the usual 90 minutes of each “SNL” episode.

I’ve been enjoying the SNL 50 stuff. It’s too much, but that probably wouldn’t be true if Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon didn’t produce 25 hours of SNL background content a week.
The music special was nice. I was thrilled to see Lauryn Hill up there looking well and super into it… and with Wyclef!!! Wonderful. The Lonely Island medley and the Culps were extremely amazing.
I’m sure there are others here who grew up with SNL as a pillar of culture/life. So the doc on Peacock for me was really cool—to see the guts and stuff. I wonder if now that everyone knows how stressed and on edge all the writers and performers feel all the time the culture will change, inasmuch as people will have a much stronger idea of what they’re getting into.
Looking forward to the big show today.

Oh yeah. Right when it gets stupid, they hit you with a gripping space sequence and you’re right back in.ghostrunner wrote: ↑January 21 25, 11:08 amFAMK is a real mixed bag, and lessens in quality as it goes, but I'm a sucker for the subject matter and there always seems to be a reason to keep watching.thrill wrote: ↑January 21 25, 8:33 amThe combination of weather and trump had my feeling like I was living in a cold, hostile environment, and starting for all mankind this weekend was great timing. [expletive]' Danny, man. Gotta be a top 5 worst subplot in tv history. Not even exaggerating. It produced one hilarious line reading from the woman who plays Karen, but that's about it.thrill wrote: ↑March 13 25, 7:34 amOh yeah.
