First off I hope my previous posts didn't come off as elitist and snide. Our goal isn't to marginalize or offend anyone but to keep BT focused. The thread RC21 referred to isn't a big deal in itself however before we created the "BT thread rules" because the number of threads like that were getting a little out of hand. That said, the current rules might be a little too strong and perhaps they should be modified. As always, I'm open to suggestions.

A few other points:

Inconsistent moderating - We try our best to be consistent but there are 9 mods so inconsistent moderating is going to happen from time to time. But sometimes it's frustrating - I've PM'd 2 feuding posters and they've both claimed they were being singled out and we weren't moderating the other poster.

If you feel like you're being unfairly treated drop me a PM. I can't guarantee you'll always get the answer you want however feedback is always appreciated.

Remember we're not professionals at this and we're trying to figure this out as we go along.

What other boards doing - I've studied the following boards:

northsidebaseball.com
CT
sosh
redszone.com

Currently we resemble northsidebaseball.com the most. We differ in the following ways:

- We moderate personal attacks more. New posters that get labeled "dumb" are annihilated over there.
- We move threads more often. That said, most of their threads in BT are baseball discussion focused.
- We have sig and avatar guidelines.
- They moderate sexual NSFW pics more.
- They have a subscription system which can complicate moderating.

CT is nuts. SOSH is too hardcore. Reds Zone implemented a tiered poster approach that's created more problems then it's solved.

stats vs the world - Just because you don't use stats doesn't mean your opinion is invalid and you shouldn't share them. That said, I've noticed a trend of belittling posters who use them and that's not fair. Let's try and respect everyone's opinion.

BT is slow - Please create inclusive baseball discussion threads. :D

Whew, time to enjoy the game!

edit - yeesh, terrible game.

im just gonna say...

i really dont see what all the hubbub is about...baseball talk seems fine to me....and im not really a "stathead" (more because of laziness, though).

i dont think people should be afraid, intimidated or question posting their comments in baseball talk because it may not be "stat-y enough". or vice versa...

thats all im gonna say. not saying people are right or wrong, just my opinion.

I think the reason some people's social baseball threads are moved and other aren't is because we (the mods) aren't always paying attention. It has zero to do with who the poster is.

Michael:

Thanks for sharing that research history.
