Are the Rapids any good? Marcelo Balboa lives in our neighborhood and coaches the HS soccer team. He played for the Rapids when our kids were in grade school. He was always surrounded by a bunch of 10-year olds when he came to pick up his son.

Yes. Currently second in the west. Lots of good young talent. Chris Klute & Dillon Powers are two to watch.

I may check out Sporting KC when I move down there. I'm not a soccer fan, but I don't hate it like I did 10 years ago.

I was very impressed with our late push with what must have been incredibly heavy legs. Some really nice work from Bradley and Jones at the end there.

We may have seen the last of many, but we still have a pipeline in place.

As an MLS season ticket holder (unfortunately I've been out of country for most of this season, but going back very soon) it was fun for me to see so many league guys out there--even, truly, the rivals, who will soon be annoying me with whining, which is easier to concede than goal-scoring (Dempsey, but he didn't whine in WC) and fouling the [expletive] out of Nagbe (Beckerman).

The NASL team here in Indy sponsored what turned out to be a surprisingly large block party today. Tried to find a picture but it's too hard to link images on a tablet. Anyway, attendance was reportedly in the thousands.

I thought that last push was a little bittersweet. Did anyone else notice that Bradley was playing in the back center mid position? He was starting the attack just in front of the defense. And our control and attack was significantly better. Dempsey was much better, too. Obviously we were pushing everyone forward and playing balls to the wall, but still. Bradley's so good when he's back there. Made me wonder how good we would have been if we would have stuck with everyone in their proper positions and gone with Wondo up top.

I was also noticing the same ability to put a sudden surge together at the end by teams in other games. For example -the Swiss offense suddenly became a potent force -with it's back to the wall. It had me thinking "why didn't they do this before?". Some of it has to be the sense of urgency, But, surely much of it has to be due to the ineffectual "prevent" defense with everyone back - which allows an offense to bring everyone forward.

Damn it was costly, but I can forgive the flub today. However, I've never been a huge Wondo guy, even when he won the boot. Unless it was a character thing, Wondo over EJ never made much sense to me--especially after all EJ's work in qualification, something that happens to a couple guys every cycle but sucks. What kind of game does Johannsson play? Is he not a good fit for Jozy's replacement?

The real problem is Germany not producing a legit backup striker for us, what's wrong with their development system?

Eta: you might consider they're playing the game they need to play to give themselves a chance.

Well, their plan didn't work. Not to mention if the U.S. goalie didn't play out of his mind all game they would have been destroyed.
