I was curious about the history of Germany-Brazil in the World Cup, and it looks like this is only the second time they have ever played each other at a World Cup. I find that amazing. This will be the 20th World Cup final, and the 14th time at least one of Germany/Brazil will be in the final, so at least one of them is going deep pretty much every tournament. I can't believe they had never met before the 2002 final and had never met in the quarters or semi-finals before this year.

I was proceeding under the assumption that now the United States is eliminated, there's no need to pay any attention to this crap anymore, and really, that's still true...but 7-1? Seven goals in a World Cup game? Sweet jumping Jebus. Brazil should just sell itself back to Portugal.

We had about 20 family friends pause their 4th of July festivities - well sort of, we kept drinking (WC is great event for drinking) - to watch the quarterfinals this Fri and Sat.

Am thinking of a parallel in sports to Brazil today. Only thing I can come up with is 2004 WS. A flawed team with lots of mojo coming in, gets exposed and can't respond. and pooped their pants. Deer in headlights. Etc etc.

Germany looked unbeatable, but a bit of the phenomena can happen to them. Should the German backline get exposed early, some doubt could creep in. Once they got their first goal, it became too easy for Germany.

Would the Dutch or Argentines stand better chance? My guess is Dutch would fare better.
