Results for May 10th

Post by New Pagodi »

Memphis lost 11-3 to Salt Lake. Mike Parisi had to tough out 4 and 2/3 innings in which he gave up 10 runs. Rick Ankiel was 2 for 4 with another homer. Nick Stavinoha was 1 for 3. Box Log

Springfield lost 6-1 to Wichita. It was supposed to be a double header, but the second game was rained out. Nick Webber pitched 3 scoreless innings. That was his second appearance in Springfield after being promoted, and it was good to see since he was hit hard in his first appearance. Joe Mather was 1 for 3. Colby Rasmus was 1 for 2. Box Log

Palm Beach lost 3-5 to Dunedin. It was supposed to be Adam Daniels’ start, but for some reason it was a bullpen start instead. I’m not sure why. Mark Hamilton went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. Box Log

Quad Cities lost 7-5 to Lansing. Shaun Garceau had an ugly start and 6 runs over 3 innings. Eddie Degerman gave up 1 run over 4 innings with 8 strikeouts. Brandon Buckman had 3 hits and was a single short of hitting for the cycle. Christian Reyes was 2 for 4 with a homer. Box Log

Only 1 bb as well.

He is 24. What is the plan with him? He isn't starting right now.

The Quad Cities team is currently using a piggyback system in which 2 starting pitchers each pitch 3 to 5 innings every 4 days. Currently the eight starters are:

Brandon Dickson and Blake King
Elvis Hernandez and P.J. Walters
Brad Furnish and Tyler Herron
Eddie Degerman and Shaun Garceau

This was supposed to be a temporary thing to allow them the sort out who should be starting and who should be relieving, but so far they've all done pretty well.

Good group here. You just hope one of them makes it to St. Louis. I really like Furnish's chances. He has great stuff and you get even more excited about him being a south paw...

This system they have running is also very good for protcting their arms.
