Results for June 14th

Post by New Pagodi »

Memphis was shutout 4-0 by the Nashville Sounds. Troy Cate gave up 3 runs over 5 innings. Chris Lambert gave up 1 run over 3 innings with 2 strikeouts. Brendan Ryan was 2 for 4. Box Log

Springfield won 11-2 against Luke Hochevar and the Wichita Wranglers. The game was called in the top of the ninth due to rain. This win lowered Springfield’s magic number to 3 (and it might fall to 2 as Tulsa is currently trailing in their game against Arkasas). Kevin Ool gave up 12 hits but only 2 runs over 6 innings of work. That means that so far I’ve gone 0 for 2 with my predictions for this series in Wichita, but I don’t mind being wrong here. Colby Rasmus went 1 for 4 with a homer and also reached base with a hit by a pitch. Bryan Anderson went 3 for 4 and also had a walk. Tyler Greene went 2 for 5 with a double and a homer. Mark Shorey was also 2 for 5. Box Log

Palm Beach was also shutout 4-0 by the Jupiter Hammerheads. Adam Daniels gave up 4 runs over 5 innings. Brandon Yarbrough was 1 for 3. Box Log

Quad Cities won 5-2 against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Brad Furnish pitched 6 scoreless innings. Tyler Herron gave up an unearned run over 3 innings with 4 strikeouts. Brandon Buckman went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Christian Reyes was 1 for 3. Box Log

I'm assuming that Rasmus was ok after getting hit by a pitch. It that right?

Love the way Greene is hitting the ball right now. Let's hope he's discovering something.......

He was hit as part of Hochevar's falling apart in the fifth, but kept playing and made a nice catch in the eighth. I mostly mentioned it point out that he is still getting on base despite his slump, but I probably should have worded that better.

No, it's cool. Just glad Rasmus was fine.

Tulsa has just lost, so Springfield's magic number falls to 2.

Is it me or has Greene picked it up since the draft?

Since June 7th he's gone 10 for 32 with 6 extra base hits. That's only bumped his batting average by 7 points, but it's bumped his OPS 31 points to .765. On the downside he has 10 strikeouts with only 1 walk in that same time period.

I'm so down on Greene my only hope is he's the next Juan Uribe. Good defense, a some pop and a horrible OBP.
