Player mugs, released today

Post by clement »

from the Palm Beach County Journal
Unidentified Baseball Player Arrested

(Jupiter, FL) A masked armed robber was arrested in connection with a street mugging last night. Police saw a group scuffling on the ground on the 700 block of Garden Street, reports said.

Police arrested one unidentified suspect and charged him with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose, reports said. He was released after posting $50,000 bail.

As police approached, they saw a man on the ground being punched in the face, police said. The assailant released the victim and fled, sources said.

According to reports, police chased the suspect north on Garden Street, and saw him remove a black handgun and throw it under a nearby car and holler "All right, all right, don't shoot!"

The victim told police he was attacked from behind. Police recovered a black imitation TT33 handgun and a black ski mask from under the car.

A police spokesperson speaking under condition of anonimity said the suspect is from out of town and plays baseball professionally. The spokesman confirmed that the suspect is not a member of the Florida Marlins team, but when asked if the suspect was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals team he replied "no comment".

Jupiter is home to the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins spring training facilities.

The victim was taken to St. Mary Hospital for treatment and released.

This has to be a minor league player. I can't believe a major league player would do something so stupid. What does a typical mugging net you? Fifty bucks?

Nah, at least a hundred on weekdays and two on weekends, plus credit cards and jewelry.

Not that I'd know.

Someone forgot to tell Albert that just because he's a God, he still can't get away with everything!
