My first time going. Where to sit? Don't want bleachers or views of poles. How's infield terrace?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been there 4 times and every time I sat in the upper deck (twice next to the press box and one time down each foul line, past the base). As far as being far from the action goes, it's not bad at all. It's such a cozy (read: SMALL) stadium that the upper deck is still closer than a lot of the higher seats were at Busch 2.

The added benefit of being in the upper deck next to the press box is that you're close to a spectacular patio area they've got outside the stadium behind the press box.

One thing to keep in mind up there, though- the steps are steep.

On the lower level watch out for blocked views. Lots of seats are right behind supports. Also, empty your bladder before arriving. The 4 bathrooms in the place have huge lines.

If you're not going with kids just hit the bleachers. Everyone should their first time!

I agree. Especially if you're going to the April series. Mighty cold in Chicago in April. At least in the bleachers you know you'll be in the sun.

Box seats = no limited view.
Reserved seats past row 7 = possible limited view.

The lower your row in reserved seating, the less your chance of being obstructed. High number rows in the lower deck really wedge you underneath the overhang.

The top row of the stadium would probably be equivalent to the first row of the 300 levels at Busch. Any box seat, even in the upper deck, is going to be a fantastic seat.

I have questions about baseball's alleged mecca:

1. Does it really smell like urine?

2. Is it unkempt and filthy?

3. What is the ratio of people "hanging out" and the people actually there to watch?

4. Are Cub fans vulgar towards Cards fans?

The bathrooms do, more so than a regular bathroom. But that's it.

2. Is it unkempt and filthy?
Not really. It's old and looks old. But I wouldn't say unkempt and filthy.

3. What is the ratio of people "hanging out" and the people actually there to watch?
Bleachers may be different but I've found the fans there to be pretty zealous and know a lot about their team and others.

4. Are Cub fans vulgar towards Cards fans?
A little, but it was such a small sample that I don't think it's fair to judge them all that way. When the section around me found out my allegiances, the three closest people were cordial- asking if I enjoyed the trip up, if I liked Wrigley, etc... But there were two guys in front of me that were clearly annoyed.
