What one thing would you change about MLB?

Post by Redbirdruss »

Periodically I get asked to participate in market research for MLB through Fans at Bat. This week the question was:

What one thing would you change about MLB?

What would your answer be?

I'm pretty young for the DH to bother me. In fact, I like that there is a pretty clear difference between the leagues. Interleague play (and the fact that the all-star game "counts") infuriates me, however.

Mine would be to stop dicking around with their fans over this cable deal. They could institute a continuous batting order for all I care if they treated me better.

#1 No DH.
#2 Contract some freaking teams. Too many perennial losers. Bye, Bye Devil Rays,
#3 Instant replay on questionalble homers. Perhaps give a manager a one challenge a game on a trap, or a close play at a base or a tag.
#4 Enforce the time between pitches rule.

A drug policy tough enough to remove the black cloud of constant rumors and second-guessing regarding how clean every single player is in America's greatest game.

I'm for it.

As has also been mentioned, I'd take away the home field advantage for the winner of the all-star game(though our team proved that it's not as important as I used to think; think how bad a team the Cards were on the road last year and they still won it all. :D )

Finally, I'd make it harder on wild card teams in the playoffs, at least in the first round. I don't think a wild card team should get more than one home game in the first round.
