I wasn't sure if I was going to like Kennedy when we first got him. After getting to watch him tonight though, I really think I'm going to be a fan.

I'm not saying he is going to be any better than his career arc suggests, I just like the guy. This is actually a pretty pointless thread, but I'm trying to spread some love after the terrible game today.

I agree, few good D plays, recovered on that one in the first inning real well, good hustle, some good pop in that triple, one of the few positive things from tonight. We need to show some pride for AK in our sigs, since this is an exclusive club.

I had my doubts after those first two plays in the field...
...but I quickly forgot about those as he was streaking around second base. His swing looked good, IMO.

By the way, I'm really glad (for his sake) that he didn't get nailed at third.

Haha, I thought the EXACT same thing. It was really even a shame to see the squeeze not work, but I'm glad he didn't get gunned at 3rd, would've spoiled a good first AB!

kennedy getting nailed at 3rd would have been ok - it was an aggressive move to get to 3rd with 1 out. Smart baseball. The Eckstein play, that's one I would have been yelling at my TV even if he would have been safe.

I've always liked Kennedy. I think he should bat 7th against righties, but otherwise, he's a fine fit.

I'm still not a big fan of the move though. I guess he's a decent bargain in the current market, but he doesn't brings much to the table offensively. So what is the bargain?

He seems like a good guy and it's cool that he may have taken less to come here. But I'm not sure we couldn't have gone with somebody younger. If it were up to me today and I could move things around the way I wanted, I'd put Edgar Gonzalez in there and maybe put Miles in occasionally against right handers. I hate to say that because I do enjoy defense and the double play in particular - and that might suffer - but it seems like a secondary concern right now.

Solid defender and a solid hitter at a bargain basement price.
