Suicide DP - Have you ever seen one?

I'm racking my brain, and I don't ever recall a DP on a suicide without a popup on the bunt. Anyone else remember a play like that?

Not sure I liked Garners strategy there. Down 2 and he's pushing a run across? I guess if it worked he has a run and it works like a sac bunt getting the guy to 2nd.

That was an insanely good play by Yadi. As Tony pointed out, most catchers will stop and look at the home plate umpire to see the call. Yadi didn't hesitate. If he's out, he's out. If he's safe, at least he's going to try to get an out at first. You can't teach that. He's a lot more aggressive the past year, and it usually works in his favor.

Unreal play by Yadier. I can't believe he got the tag down, and REALLY can't believe he got the guy at first. Instead of making sure the ump got the call right at home he just gunned it down and got Ausmus out by more than 1 step. Unbelivable play, should be #1 on Web Gems tonight!

It helps, of course, that Ausmus is almost as slow as Yadi himself.

Seeing it live, I thought it was a "phantom tag". I still dont think he got him. But great awareness by Molina. Ok I tagged him, fire a bullet. Like was said, you cant teach agressivness. Most C would have waited for the call, not Yadi.

Great play. Play of the week so far.

I've never seen that happen. I've also never seen a squeeze with no outs and a team trailing by two runs in the later innings.

nope, and I just recorded it on Sports Center. On first glance I think he missed the tag, but I'll watch it 25 times today (soccer practice first) and get back to you. Live speed action that play = friggin' sweeeet!

Duncan went to the mound right before the Ausmus at-bat. I was wondering what the heck you talk about when Brad Ausmus is at the plate, but maybe that's it.

It was a very heads up play by Molina, regardless of the speed of the baserunner.

I've seen enough of Garner and his managing style to put his ingame strategy right near the bottom of the heap. I guess the best case scenario for him was give up an out to score a run and move a guy to 2nd, then he has 2 cracks to get the guy home. I guess in fairness he figured worst case was 1st and 2nd with 1 out, but worst case may have been a triple play. What happens if he pops that ball up, the guy on 1st was moving on the play.
