Beating a dead horse (JRod)

Post by picasso »

If Edmonds is intent on playing everyday. Is there is any excuse (real or imagined) to carry two light-hitting backup CF's?

Skip should be sent down prior to the Pittsburgh series with Rodriguez recalled.

Skip needs to be sent down, J-rod up.

Thompson/Hancock needs to be sent down, Jiminez up.

IMO.

With or without John Rodriguez (or anyone else in our minor league system) this team is playing poorly and is 1-4. I'm confident in assuming that we'd still be 1-4 with Rodriguez on the roster.

What we need is to start playing better. We've got close to $100,000,000 invested in this team. I can't imagine a $300,000+ minor leaguer making or breaking us this year.

But if no one else is going to step up and they decide they're going to give John a chance, I'm not going to complain.

I agree with this.

That said, if we're going down, let's go down swinging (pardon the pun). I'd rather see our best out there (eg: Taguchi + J-Rod / Shoe + J-Rod) as opposed to the crap we're throwing out there now (Taguchi x2, since Shoe is a Taguchi clone).

Maybe using the term "best" in that last paragraph wasn't the best choice, but a pair from the first group is better than our current roster.

I agree Cabby! I liked the resigning of P Dub when it happened, but I'm already tired of his wild swings. I just don't know about him. I'm also tired of Taguchi. #-o

Carrying both Taguchi and Schumaker on the roster never made sense. The Cards didn't need to start 1-4 for that to be true.

Rodriguez has earned an elevated status in the minds of many, but he's still better than Schumaker, the spring training wonder. Judging by the way Spiezio ran the bases yesterday, he could be headed to the DL. That could get Rodriguez to the big leagues. Or maybe they'll find another outfielder who can't hit. Who knows?

Our 3-4-5 guys aren't hitting squat. That's the biggest reason we are 1-4.
