Remember 1986?

Anyone remember 1986? The Cards just came off of a tough WS loss to the Royals, expectations were high, and the team spent the entire summer struggling to score runs.

This week is deja vu.

Let's hope there is a rebirth today, get those bats going and start scoring runs. It can be maddening to watch a team struggle like this, when team lose because of their pitching it leaves a different impression than when they can't score.

That was a hurtin season for sure.

1983, 1986, 1988 each time we did well we had trouble bouncing back.

Not that uncommon--it is tougher for teams who are "expected" to do well.

Difference between 2007, thus far, and 1986 is the World Series results.

This year's team may be suffering from a little bit of a "hangover" opposed to recouping from getting kicked in the nuts.

i've been on the same line of thoughts.

i was worried about the party hardy off season and how they would bounce back.

needless to say.......i am concern.

I can't be concerned until Pujols and Rolen hit, because until then I don't even know how to evaluate the team.

Well, technically, last year's team was expected to do well.

I'm not ruling out anything, but if you look objectively at this team you know it's going to have trouble scoring runs. Most simulations put them in the low 700's, without coding in a hangover effect.
