Is he why we don't have a better alternative in the OF?

I honestly think Tony believes Ricky will be our RF by Aug. Can that happen?

I think it's babysitting first, then guilt and then belief.

I don't think LaRussa or Jocketty are counting on Ankiel at all. I think they're giving him a shot out of loyalty, and because with our outfield prospects as thin as they are, they might as well.

But, imo, no way did they forego acquiring an outfield bat because of faith in Ankiel.

Well you could be right. I thought the same thing about Looper too when they first started talking about putting him in the rotation, but here he is. Not that there's anything wrong with that (so far).

Me too. I think Tony is a sucker for hard luck cases and genuinely loves Rick. Maybe to the point of preferential treatment (keeping a spot for him).
