So, they are now 5-4, and I'm thinking "smoke and mirrors."

I watched through the 8th at my parents' house while helping my dad with some plumbing. Jumped in the car to speed home. Listened to a very staticy start of the 9th.

I got out of my car right when Eck got out. By the time I was in my apartment and had the TV on, we were up 3-2. What a time to miss! Heck!

Happy all the same. Go Cards!

I'd say that's a successful roadtrip....5-1

Now if we could only win at home! :)

Bottom line on the Pirates?

They are who we thought they were.

But we still (barely) took care of business against a division rival, and that's all that matters.

The Cardinals love playing in Pittsburgh...their record there since that ballpark opened is sick.

Too bad these bums can't win at home.

First place(at least for a while)!!

So how much more does Duncan have to do to play everyday? I guess that .480 avg isn't cutting it.

Shaky, at best, which is why I think my statement about them being smoke and mirrors is correct. They have scored just 26 runs, which is below three runs per game. They allowed only 12 runs on trip, but it came at the expense of the Pirates and Astros.

And they have scored only 5+ runs one time, and THAT came at the expense of a closer who is broken down.
