Eh? Meh.

Per rotoworld...
Ryan Freel-OF-Reds Apr. 16 - 5:15 pm et

Ryan Freel will make $7 million over two years under the terms of his two-year extension agreed to on Monday.

GM Wayne Krivsky was smart to lock him up at that price. Even if Freel reverts to a superutility role at some point, he'll be worth $3 million in 2008 and $4 million in 2009. As before, he'll be eligible for free agency for the first time after 2009.

Freel is a very solid bench guy.

That's maybe a little too much money, but it's pretty valuable when you have a guy that can play center and second base...

Like Eck but more versitility. Honestly this is the kind of money Eck should be getting. I hope Walt doesn't pony up too much cash.

It's a good deal on Freel, but Farney is going to cost them extra.

Another chance for me to say that while I like Eckstein, I'm very nervous about locking him up. Mostly because if that happens, the average offense we trot out there right now will be the exact same in 2008, unless Walt pulls a rabbit out of his hat with a trade.
