I don't wish ill will on anyone, but I hope sometime Johnny Estrada makes three errors in a game so we can use this thread title in a beautiful discussion.

We can dissect the inattentive human mistakes that Estrada made early in the game, and how innocent Brewer teammates were victimized by the seemingly cruel randomness of fate. We can discuss how Ned Yost kept his faith in his catcher despite his struggles, and how his teammates refused to accept the unearned runs and early deficit as their outcome. We can marvel at how the team's faith was rewarded at the end, when Estrada got the game-winning RBI and forgave himself for his errors, thus securing his redemption.

It is a reference to the morality play that Tommie Lee Jones produced, directed, and starred in. It explores human fallibility, stereotypes, faith, and forgiveness against a backdrop of west Texas (some great shots of Big Bend) and border politics. It is a good film, though one could accuse Jones of overdoing the morality bit.

So I wonder what would happen if Johnny Estrada made 3 errors in one game. Would his teammates forgive him? Would they simply give up the game as lost? Would they try to overcome it all?

And most importantly, what would Steve Phillips say about it on BBTN?
