Jack Cust Watch

Post by GatewaySnayke »

Man, what this guy would be doing for our offense right now...

He's only batting .221! But his on-base percentage is a whopping .406. He's drawing a walk once every four plate appearances, and his walk rate is TWENTY-THREE PERCENT!

I don't care if he is a bad body, minor league lifer who hits .221. When you can take that many walks, you are an asset to any offense. Kudos to Beane for realizing that Cust's awesome ability to get on base was being wasted in AAA.

Before May 20: .283/ .468/ .848 (48 AB's)
Since May 20: .114/ .279/ .171 (35 AB's)

You'll excuse me if I'm not exactly ready to anoint him a superstar, a regular, or even worthy of 200 MLB AB's.

What about the first time that Beane had him and gave up on him after the '05 season?

Wouldn't he just be clogging up the bases with those walks though?

He said before ducking

A lot of that is carryover from his very hot start. His last 10 games or so have been pretty pathetic.

EDIT: sorry, RC beat me to it

Jack Cust sold his soul to the Devil and soon he'll be forced to dance with the Evil Clown. Don't get taken in.

IMO now that pitchers have seen what Cust can do, they adjusted where he hasn't

Maybe we should pick up this guy. He's available. Similar skill set if we sneak him some Clear.

If I hadn't looked, I would have thought this thread started 2 weeks ago.

But it didn't.
