What's the deal with this kid? I know he has a ton of talent, but what's holding him back so much, and does anyone think he'll ever amount to anything? Or is he just a career minor leaguer, who will never "get it"

High ceiling pitcher that's never had sound mechanics and never had good command/control b/c of it. There's a whole lotta torque between the upper 90s FB and sharp curve on his arm.

He'll get it, he has the stuff and everything I've seen about his makeup is positive. I think he's better off as a future closer and try and progress like Gagne (without the changeup).

Thanks for all of this. How long do you think his progression will take? If you projected, when do you think he'd be on the big league team if all goes well?

Impossible to even guess, so many scenarios that could shorten or lengthen the time he needs to get the majors.

1)Health
2)Mechanics
3)Control/command
4)Deciding to keep him in the rotation or bullpen.

I've been wondering about this guy for a long time, seems like ever since the day after we drafted him he's virtually vanished. From what I've seen of him, he looked very promising, but that was all the way back during his college days, I hope this kid makes it.
