I wouldn't compare Reyes and Parisi quite yet. I think Parisi has room to improve, though he probably will never be a ML starter.

Barden has only recently made the transition from 3B to middle infielder. His defense was exceptional at 3B, but I'm not sure how well he's regarded as a 2B. The bigger concern is that his line translates to .253/.326/.353, which makes him Aaron Miles with less experience at the position. That's probably a small net increase on Kennedy (Defense & offense), but it's not any kind of acceptable solution.

From the half dozen games I've watched he looks pretty sharp at SS. Which means next to nothing, but I haven't heard anyone knock his defense either. I'd take my chances with him and Ryan in the MI over Izturis and Miles, especially now that Pujols is out.

A legitimate solution would be nice, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

I hates the Izturis signing, but I have been pleased with him. I like his D and he's actually getting on base. To me, SS isn't the problem. 2B is.

Meh, he's been a little better than expected basically because his OPS+ is more OBP-heavy than usual. He's still been ~replacement level with the bat, and according to THT he's about 2 runs better than the average SS with the glove. That's a problem.
