OUR SEASON IS SAVED!!!

Post by Joe Shlabotnik »

Here comes the cavalry!!!
The Cardinals will make four roster moves before this afternoon's game. Today's starter, Jeff Suppan (groin), and Reyes (elbow) will be activated from the disabled list, and catcher Matt Pagnozzi and outfielder Nick Stavinoha will be promoted from Class AAA Memphis. The club's plan is to add other players, such as Tyler Greene and Allen Craig, once Memphis' season ends.

Hey come on - there is nothing about this season that a few BP fastballs and home runs from one knee can't solve. Woohoo!!

Why are they keeping Craig and Greene in Memphis?

Playoff run I suppose, and because Allen Craig likes clubbing baby seals.

The St. Louis Cardinals did not make any last-minute roster acquisitions before Tuesday's deadline for a player outside the organization to be eligible for the postseason. The club had pursued a lefty reliever, but its preferred option did not clear waivers to make a deal possible. General manager John Mozeliak said positive reports of Dennys Reyes' health also limited the urgency to add a reliever.

"At this point," Mozeliak said, "this is the club we have to go with."
Hmph. That's disappointing.

Yea, a lefty reliever is our biggest glaring weakness. It's a shame we didn't add a left handed reliever... you know, to get the left handed hitters out.
