Rant: Weightroom Etiquette

Post by greenback44 »

Don't sit on the machine and chat with your buddy for twenty minutes. Or if you're going to do that, at least be prepared to get the [expletive] off that machine when somebody asks if they can work in.

Also, strip down anything with free weights after you're finished. Ignoring the extra work I have to do, I don't know whether you just wandered off for a moment to get a drink of water or if you're done.

I approve of this rant.

Get that [expletive] weird protein drink out of here.
There's only one squat rack in the place- so tie your stretch rope to something else.
Your ass is fat - so I don't want to read Pink off it.
Can't you do your pushups at home, instead of the middle of the [expletive] floor?
WTF - 6 sets on one machine! branch out a bit - [expletive].

Somewhere there must be an infomercial claiming that a thousand reps on the rotary torso machine acts as a cancer vaccine.

How about "look at me! I've invented a new lift!" guy?

I also agree with the rant, but I'll confess that I'm bad about this. I don't want to do the extra work myself, especially once worn out from sets.

And to add to the rant, IMO, if you walk away from a machine, even for a couple of seconds, it's fair game. If you're resting between sets, stand by it so people know that you're doing sets. And don't be surprised/annoyed if someone walks up and asks if they can do a set while you rest.

There are a lot of douchebags at gyms for sure.

I am lucky, the gym I go to is like "Average Joe's" and everyone is pretty cool except for the scrawny hoosiers who think they can lift 500 lbs. It's fun to watch those hoosiers hurt themselves.

Not me. I do sweat like a beast but I always wipe my machine/seat when I'm done.

I also like the guys who have to scream when they lift. Helps me get through my workout.

My girlfriend works out with free weights and has for years. I wonder if she grunts when she lifts. I think I'll ask her.
