A Humble Request Of The Mods

How about a new category, called "Albert Pujols' Contract" where all the Pujols contract talk can be temporarily relocated up to the time at which he signs his next contract with the Cardinals?

Yes, it's baseball related. Yes, it's important. Yes, it's at the forefront of our brains right now. But it has completely overrun the Baseball Talk thread, and I'd like to click on it and chat other stuff for a while, especially with a new season starting up.

Ready for the 2011 season and thankful to you guys for supporting this community,

TM54

Speaking of forum clutter, moving to Site Support/Suggestions...

We will of course discuss this as we do each and every one of you plebe's ideas.

if you move them - at least add in pujolswrox's babe thread to make it more interesting.

In all honestly I don't think this is a good idea. It will discourage discussion. To illustrate this point, look at how dead the minor league forums are. I guarantee we'd have more discussion about the farm if it were permitted in Baseball Talk. I know the redundant threads get annoying, but at the same time, the mods do a good job of merging threads to help mitigate the problem.

I think in a perfect world, we'd have different board software. One that supported topic "tags" -- just like Gmail supports. So you'd come to a forum, and you'd see:

Baseball Talk
-------------
[MLB] Pujols Signs Extension with Cards
[MiLB] Adam Ottavino strikes out 16
[MiLB] Lance Lynn Delivers
[MLB] Wainwright Wins Cy Young

Then, possibly through checkbox input boxes, you'd be able to select / deselect tag types so that they wouldn't show up in the list. This would provide the same functionality as having separate forums, but have the added benefit of consolidating all of the topics into one place if that's what you wanted.

If I unchecked the MLB box, I'd get:

Baseball Talk
-------------
[MiLB] Adam Ottavino strikes out 16
[MiLB] Lance Lynn Delivers

If I unchecked the MiLB box, I'd get...

Baseball Talk
-------------
[MLB] Pujols Signs Extension with Cards
[MLB] Wainwright Wins Cy Young

...etc..

Maybe, like, a Master Pujols forum, like BT or social, with subforums. Pujols Aging/Future Performance. Pujols Contract. etc. Then you guys could take all the threads that get derailed with that kind of stuff and just move them there.
