Saints' bounty program
ESPN
Gregg Williams, the Rams' recently-signed defensive coordinator, is likely looking at some major punishments from the commissioner. Fines and suspension are likely, and there are a lot of fans hoping for a lifetime ban.

Not cool. I can see the 20-something players getting into it - but the coaches? I thought there would be more of a gray area to the story.
Gregg Williams, you've let our alma mater down.

Re: Saint's bounty program
I found this pretty interesting. Apparently we need to be talking about the "Jeff Fisher Ass hole Coaches" coaching tree.
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/ ... d-the-ramsRough Stuff: 2009 to 2011 Penalties
Rank Team Total
1 Lions 65
2 Eagles 53
3 Saints 51
4 Titans 50
8 Cardinals 44
12 49ers 41
14 Seahawks 36
24 Rams 32
The first chart, courtesy of ESPN Stats & Information, shows the Saints ranking third from 2009 to 2011 in penalties for unnecessary roughness, facemasking, roughing the passer, personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct. The Titans were fourth. Williams, like Lions coach Jim Schwartz, spent much of his career under Fisher in Tennessee.
The chart below shows where Fisher's teams have ranked in various over-the-line penalties from 2001 until 2010, his final season with the Titans.
Rank Team Unnecessary roughness Roughing the passer Personal foul Unsportsmanlike conduct Total
1 Titans 67 46 32 18 163
2 Giants 53 38 34 12 137

4 Ravens 45 30 41 17 133

Really sickening, and horrible timing given the mounting evidence of catastrophic brain damage resulting from the sport.
My gut reaction is that Williams will get a one-year suspension and a hefty fine. I would not have a problem with a lifetime ban, though I don't see the League going that far.

The Rams hired Dave McGinnis as assistant head coach. It's almost like they knew he was going to be the de facto defensive coordinator.

I don't condone it, but people that are shocked at this what do you really think is going on out there? We did this in HS - we just did it for an extra sticker for our helmet. I would be surprised if something like this wasn't going on in every NFL and bigtime NCAA program.
