Halak or Elliott?
I think it's going to be Halak, but Elliott is having the best season ever by a goalie in the modern era. If you had the choice of starting Elliott or Halak in the playoffs, who would you choose?

Halak gets the start. He gets games 1 and 2, then you go from there. 2 goal maximum going forward. Anyone gives up 2 goals, the other guy gets the next game.

Roll with whoever is playing the best. That's worked all season long. It wasn't that long ago that Halak stole a couple playoff series himself.

Game 1 though, that's a tough question. If Elliott is still rolling, I think you have to go with him.

I agree, keep playing the hot hand.Popeye_Card wrote:Game 1 though, that's a tough question. If Elliott is still rolling, I think you have to go with him.
I'm a big Halak fan myself, but the best playoff teams generally have two very good goalies, so keep them fresh and just roll with it.

Halak has let in less than 2 goals in 11 of the last 13 games he's started as well. While Elliott is leading the league in stats, Halak is right behind him with the weight of the slow start on his numbers.

Start two goalies and play four forwards/d-men. We'd never let in another goal ever.

As hot as Elliot has been I still have to go with Halak. He's performed at a high level in the playoffs before. I agree w/ the poster that said if one of them gives up 3 goals then you switch it up. Having these two goalies is a nice problem to have.
I want to see how these guys finish out the season but at this point I'd go w/ Halak.

I strongly agree with having a split. And like the idea of more than 2 goals, new goalie.
I hope it ends up being a 60/40 split. I feel that part of what makes both goalies so good is they don't play full time.
And if you look at the few bad games both goalies have had they all were at the end of short stretch of games without the other playing. Not sure that's a coincidence or not could help support that less playing time is making each goalie better.
