There are police on the field, the guy has been running around for a minute acting like an idiot but clearly no threat to anyone, and you're a man in your 50s and an employee of a multi-billion dollar corporation. Just let the police do their frigging job.

C'mon, you know by now that the umpires are the center of the show. It's why we all go to the games. It's all about them.

I'm glad he did it. I hope the [expletive] fan got hurt.

Me too. I don't have time to recount the story, but this incident reminds me of what Mike Ditka (when he was a player) did to a fan who was running around the field in Chicago.

25 some odd years ago I got fired from Dominos because I didn't let someone take the pizza and my money, and instead refused and told them to go to hell. A physical altercation took place in which I probably - well ok I definitely did more than defend myself - and boom, job gone.
As much as it pissed me off I did understand it even back then. I think MLB needs this policy - you hire umpires to ump and security guards to secure - train each properly and let them each do their job. What if a star player went after him and was injured? What if the ump was injured? What if the ump were deemed over zealous and taken to court?
It's a dumb move by the ump and MLB should just flat out tell them to skip the Rambo [expletive].
