I love them. I could just hang out in an airport all day and stare at all the hot chicks in yoga pants.

I am the exact opposite except the part about staring at hot chicks in yoga pants. I hate airports. What on earth is there to like about an airport that you can't find at a health club or a beach?

Totally agree. Memphis airport is one of the best. With that blues bar in one of the halls that connects the terminals. And, you can smoke in it. Not that I smoke, but in my mind its them rebelling against the machine.

Anyway, yeah, I like to get there early and have a few toddies while waiting for a flight. So....relaxing....as weird as it sounds.

Plus, there's all sorts of different people. The hustle and bustle business people in their suits and on their phones. I can never tell if they're more concerned with catching their next flight or the business deal that might go down the drain. Then, there's the families. Just trying to keep little Johnny from bumping into total strangers and staining their pants with the snot dripping out of his nose. And, of course, teenagers or young adults who are travelling with their best friend to some awesome place. They act like they're too cool to be impressed with what's going on, but the giddiness in their giggles and energy totally gives it away. People by themselves, anxious to get to their families/friends. People that are loners, and stare at their phones/computers. People that are super uptight and annoyed that little Johnny just bumped into him and got snot on his pants. People that are flying home for the hollidays/birthdays/whatever special event. Hot chicks in yoga pants making you drool.

YOu can find so many different people, with such a huge variation in backgrounds, that I love it. You don't have to even look for it to notice it. Of course, a lot of people are more annoyed by it than they enjoy it. But, I'm not one of them. Plus, almost every airport has good beer. Get one, and sit and stare for an hour at all the different people. Awesome.

Try my home airport - Chicago O'Hare. NOT fun. I also fly out of Midway and that's better but still not what I would call fun. Another airport I don't like:

I don't mind airports too much. But I only air travel about once every couple of years-so not an expert and still fun for me. People-wise - its a more attractive bunch than the People of Wal-Mart. You can run into cool famous people- my sister and kids got Carp's autograph in Atlanta airport. I've seen local celebrities at Lambert (Pronger, Dick Gephart). My bro saw Bill Clinton.

Personality wise- airport folk seem to be a bit overcompetitive about dumb things like the lines for security, to go on plane etc.

Can I add conjecture on air travel in general. I'm always struck by the inefficiency of the overhead luggage stuffing, and the mini-hysteria of people doing it. It seems you could load or unload a plane about 10-15 minutes faster without this hoopla. I suppose the airlines need this time anyway to do their resupplying and diligence, - but it still is unneccessary stress for passengers.
