Most meetings are [expletive] useless and a waste of time. More than half of the [expletive] that people meet about can be accomplished with a 2 minute phone call or an email. I hate meetings.

There was a time when meetings were useful, but ever since the silent coup d'etat that enslaved the American people (except for the elite), people intuitively know they have no free will and there is no reason to discuss anything. Meetings today are monopolized by those who don't get it or need to maintain the illusion this is a free country.

I have a one hour meeting every week that can go months and months without accomplishing a single thing that is useful or relevant. I usually make it about fifteen minutes in before thinking about blowing my brains out.

I think most 2-minute phone calls and emails are useless too.

I spend alot of time in meetings, where I work it's just second nature to call a meeting. Don't need one, no agenda half the time, but damn it we need a meeting. Because I have a group with a diverse set of responsibilities and with our culture of meetings, I to a lot. I have 11 regular weekly meetings, a couple of biweekly, and one monthly. I spend approx. 20 hours a week in meetings. Some of the meetings I'm interested/responsible for maybe 10% of the meeting content. Two of our most infamous meetings are the Monday operations report meeting and the Tuesday project status meeting to the big shots. Everyone has to go, I have to present, but most of the stuff other people present has nothing to do with my job, so I don't care. They are the same. It's basically two big shots that want to hear everything, and their kingdom assembling to tell them.

I hate my job.

What I don't understand, and this definitely includes myself, is why so many people hate their jobs, but don't even look for new jobs, let alone move to a new job?

A new job involves more meetings?

I hate specific people at my job, and that's the source of all of the ill-will I have about my job right now.

Without those specific people, I'd be quite satisfied with my employer.

The problem is identifying why those people (the ones I hate) are employed and not called out on their bull [expletive].

There's probably some stupidity to the hope that things will get better. There's not really any justification for it, but I do have hope that things can improve at my job.
