Other Sports-this time of year sucks - alternatives?
Once more, I'll mention what a [expletive] (crappy) sports time of year this is. NHL should be firing into the playoffs NOW, rather than late spring when most folks have better things to do with sports or doing something outside.
It's especially bad this year with 2 weeks of hype for the worst [expletive] SB matchup ever. Not even the Winter Olympic to spark my quadrennial curiousity. Maybe if one is really into an NHL, NBA or NCAABB team you can enjoy their mostly meaningless regular season games that occur before these teams really start to crank up their competitive levels.
Blah.
Such a void on the old boob tube. Oh well, time to watch movies, catch up on [expletive] on my DVR, get more sleep.

Bigten Network or Flowrestling. Wisconsin has a good dual meet this Friday with wolverine on BTN I think.

thanks.
Maybe watching some fine tuned athletes jumping off the top rope, breaking chairs over heads will brighten my spirits.*
(back in HS -this was a good way to start a fight with my friends that wrestled)

Guess it sucks not to be a hockey fan. While baseball will always be my #1 sport, hockey is a close second and in all honesty is probably more exciting to watch than baseball.
While the Blues are gut-wrenching when it comes playoff time, they've got probably the best chance they've had in years to go on a deep run. There are so many good teams in the Western Conference that almost every game is a battle and great sports watching.

NBA for me fills the void perfectly. Gets me to baseball, at which point I stop watching until the semi-finals of the playoffs.

Nah, I'm not anti-hockey, like people are about soccer. I wish I was into Blues NHL like others are, and I used to be. It's definitely better for TV now with HD, than it used to be back in the old days.cardinalkarp wrote:Guess it sucks not to be a hockey fan. .
My dilemma with hockey this time of year, is that regular season seems to have less meaning than in most sports -as 16/30 teams make the playoffs. Granted, there are a few teams on the bubble where these games matter.
For the teams that are in, they can make major shakeups going into playoffs - and marginal regular season teams stand decent chance to win - where the games are 10x better than regular season -only it's spring and summer time and unless the Blues are making a major push, the ice has already thawed for me.
that said, the olympic hockey was good for me.

Go on vacation, it's the only solution. February is the worst sports month of the year and there are no others close.

I also love hockey but agree their playoff should start sooner. I'd say February and March should be their playoff time. Definitely not May.

Best of 7 throughout the playoffs and not playing back to back nights is what makes the hockey playoffs go for so damn long.....I enjoy playoff hockey, so I'm not complaining.pioneer98 wrote:I also love hockey but agree their playoff should start sooner.
