Erroneous bill

I get a liquid cattle feed that a guy delivers monthly. I moved my cattle and the tank two+ months ago. Today I get a bill in the mail for the last two months bill. It's the same, actually alittle higher, then my normal bill. I call the guy and he's willing to take half off the bill but that still leaves $500 that can't be right. My bills have increased over the past 5 months and I'm now wondering how legitimate they are? I've had some suspicions in recent months because I sold cows but my usage didn't decrease, but this is blatant.
Can I just not pay the bill? It's my word vs his word and I really have no "proof" that u didn't get what I was billed for.

No written contract? I would assume that if you don't pay the bill he will stop deliveries. Ask him to send a more detailed invoice.

No contract. I'm fine with the deliveries stopping. What he said his computer showed and what the bill said were completely different, both dates would not have been possible for him to make a delivery.

That whole thing sounds shady. Sending you a bill after two months so you don't catch it right away, plus his willingness to cut it in half seems awfully suspicious. Moving your cows and tank sounds like a pretty big ordeal. Did you have anyone help you that could confirm the date? I would be tempted to tell him to go [expletive] himself and see just how far he wants to go.

do they have any competition? Do what Lipp says, but also make it be known that you may move the bidness.

The whole process has always seemed abit shady to me. The cows have done good so I have kept using it, but my bill has been creeping up to where there are better options. Moving cows wasn't to bad just open gates and led them down the road, move the liquid tank with the loader tractor. Wife helped me and I asked her if she remembered if she was still preg when we did it. She knew she was but not sure how long it was before labor. Thor is two months old today and both of the service dates on the bill are after he was born.
