But yeah leaving it twice is a must. So annoying having to fumble around and try to replay a message. Also, if given a choice between calling my office phone and my cell phone, please choose cell. For 1, it's guaranteed that I have it. 2. I can use headphones. 3. I just know how to use it better. 4. I have a record of your call even if you don't leave a message.

Yeah. I feel like this is a skill that has been lost by our generation.

Typical message should go:

-Your Name (and number perhaps)
-Calling in regards to {insert max one sentence description}
-One sentence about what you need.
-How and when you can be reached (phone number if you haven't already said it)
-This sentence: Again, my phone number is (___-___-____).

Example:
Hello, this is Joe likes to do Blow calling in regards to the cocaine you sold me yesterday. It's baking soda and I need my money back. I'll be around all day, you know, sober, so please give me a call at 555-555-5555. Again, that number is Five. Five. Five. Five. Five. Five. Five. Five. Five. Five.

there's also a cadence to leave your phone number...636 (pause) 555 (pause) 1234 (possibly even a pause in between the last 4 numbers, but that's it).

some people are just terrible, and it screws me up/i have to listen like 5 times to get it.

they'll do things like...63 (pause) 6 (pause) 5551 (really fast, then pause) 23 (pause) 4.
