Rant/rave: Vacation 2016

We're in the process of choosing vacations for this year at work, and I'm pretty low on the seniority list in my group of workers (6th of 8). But with Christmas on a Sunday this year (and me as a weekend worker), I was hoping I might be able to snag it this year.
Rant: Didn't snag it. Same guy got Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Rave: With Monday-Tuesday off days, I got every major summer holiday this year (the 4th is on a Monday). And as long as I work the Wednesday thru Sunday following, I'll still get credit for working the holiday since I put in my 5 days.
I was able to get the week off before the 4th (where the Cards and Royals play in KC and STL) plus Memorial weekend (my birthday) and Labor Day weekend.
