How many games will the Cubs win?

Post by dmarx114 »

Sorry for the back to back Cubs posts, but I am curious to know what GRB thinks about our rivals.

6-1 so far, and half the NL has a bullpen the Cubs will obliterate.

I am voting for 105-109.

Nah. I'll say 100.

I am figuring 98 unless they get hit with injuries

102

They have a good offense and the chips to make any moves for SP should the need arise.

100 - 104 is my vote, which is unchanged from how I felt before the season started. Some weakness will be exposed this summer, but like go birds said I think they will be major buyers at the trade deadline and will have what it takes to make a significant addition to their roster.

They also play the Brewers and Reds a bunch. So whatever you have add 5 games or so. Same for us of course.

105-109 is a ton.

I think they are in the 95-99 range. Probably the high end of that.

Very much agree that 105-109 is a ton....but this season is shaping up to be an outlier with several NL teams tanking*. And lets not forget they already won 97 last year without several key additions this year. Plus guys like Russell and Baez will get many more at bats they they received last year.

* I hate the word "tanking". No team is intentionally trying to lose. But the word itself has its own connotation in the sports world, so I will use it like everyone else.

I don't think they can get much higher than 100, since they have to play the Cards and Pirates a lot. They're pretty [expletive] good.

This season's Cubs could win 100+ games if everything breaks right.

The could even eclipse Seattle's 116.

When they eventually lose in the playoffs or WS, the suicide rate in Chicago will spike.

They are one loaded squad though.
