Rave: Autumn

You just can't beat a late summer evening like the one we are having tonight.

Autumn is the best. And if I was a farmer, it would be work but also the time to measure success. I'd think that would be exciting Ima.

Certainly to some extent that's true. There is this excitement around Harvest years worth of work is coming to an end and you get a see what you've got. However after about four or five days the reality that is the daunting task of harvesting 3000 acres of crops that's it. Then you deal with the breakdowns and the weather and the long days and nights and it starts to wear on you quite a bit. There is kind of this uneasiness can we get it all before winter sets in. Then there's also the fact that the next time I have a day off or free time will be winter so all of these other life obligations they're still going on but you just have less time for them and it stresses you out more. So it's good and bad.

I can honestly say that I'd never experienced autumn in the way others do. Around here it's a lot of festivals it's it's football it's campfires and fall colors. I don't know about any of that stuff really all those things everybody enjoys about fall I've just never experienced and I kind of want to.

the evenings are getting nice, but another stretch of days with 90 degrees in STL. I'm ready for that to end.

I was in Wisconsin over the weekend. It's Autumn up there - made the chili taste better.
