Round 1:

cardsfansince82's "Of The Night" by Bastille

Smith Corks One's "Cortez The Killer" by Grace Potter/Joe Satriani

You know who has an epic and shredding and 20 minute long cover of Cortez the Killer?

Built to Spill.

Built To Spill are such a great band. "Ultimate Alternative Wavers" got many plays in Chez Mortimer back in the 90s.

INNER SIDE BOOB!!!

Uncle Tupelo used to play Cortez as an encore with Brian Hennemann playing lead. Goddam those were good shows. Wish I'd seen more.

Also Matthew Sweet

They're one of my favorite bands. Did you ever pick up Keep It Like A Secret? It's their masterpiece.

This was another tough choice. I'm going with Cortez because the trumpet guy's head didn't explode.

I must have heard it, but I don't remember it at all. Time to renew my relationship with it, I reckon.

He's one of those guys that every time I hear a song, I wonder why I don't listen more often.
