Two great and iconic covers here. I'm voting against Jimi because I'm one of those hipster types.

Blasphemy, Zeus!
It was weird to see Grohl so subdued behind the drums!

Yeah this is a tough matchup for my pick. Hendrix is one of my favorite artist of all time and his version is better then the original.

Tough first round match-up, even if one of the songs is mine.

No one would ever accuse me of being a hipster (maybe a former hippie though), and I grew up with Jimi. But Kobain covering Leadbelly was awesome and deserves some love.

Nirvana unplugged album is great. Bums me out we didn't get to see Cobain's music keep evolving.

Jimi's version is one of those ones where even the guy who wrote the song says the cover version is superior (I think, I can't find confirmation but I read that story years ago).
Re: Round 1: "Where Did You Go..." vs "All Along The Watchto
Q: How did you feel when you first heard Jimi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower"?
A: It overwhelmed me, really. He had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them. He found things that other people wouldn't think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day.
Dylan's live performances of the song are much closer to Hendrix's than his original recording, though at least the couple times I've seen him, he doesn't really do much of the stripped down acoustic stuff anymore anyway.
