Wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan has died, his manager confirmed. He was 71.
Manager Chris Volo told NBC Los Angeles that Hogan died at his home in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by family.
Clearwater Fire and Rescue responded to his home at 9:51 a.m. Thursday for a reported cardiac arrest, according to a media release from the city. Hogan was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
Hogan, whose given name is Terry Bollea, attained pro wrestling stardom in the 1980s and 1990s and was perhaps the biggest star in WWE’s five-decade history. He was the main draw for the first-ever WrestleMania, headlining the 1985 event in New York, and was a fixture for years at Wrestlemania, facing everyone from Andre The Giant and Randy Savage to The Rock and even company chairman Vince McMahon.
He won six WWE championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by Sylvester Stallone.

I know it turned out he wasn't such a good guy but man 7 year old me thought the world revolved around the Hulkster.

It's weird that he's how much of the world was introduced to Peter Thiel. More so than Gawker outing Thiel in the first place.
Anyway, lousy guy, so whatever.

I grew up with local pro wrestling: Hogan's stardom came later. I hadn't thought about him since he set his reputation on fire. Looking forward to forgetting all about him after today.

Rest in piss, [expletive]. I’ll miss the fresh rounds of hilarious lies every time he gave an interview.

Re: Hulk Hogan Dies Age 71
When I was about 5 and my brother was 9 we got a beagle puppy from the pound. My brother and I decided to name him Hulkster. Our mom - ever wise, ever prudent - put down the veto because she (100% correctly) predicted that we wouldn't always care about wrestling, but we would have that dog for a long time, well after we stopped caring about Hulk Hogan.
Indeed, the Hulkster turned out to be a real piece of [expletive], my brother and I moved on from the WWF, and we ended up having Rocky until I was 20.
(we ultimately named the puppy Rocky because the first thing he did when we got him home was run over to the rocky area of our front yard and took a piss. Everyone but my mom was very amused by the new name)
