Thank You Mo

Post by dmarx114 »

16 out of 18 winning seasons.

10 playoff appearances.

6 division titles.

2 pennants.

1 championship.

Yes, it was time for a change, but Mo gave us tons of awesome memories. He earned that red jacket.

I wouldn't give Walt much credit for any of Mo's success as GM. Walt left Mo with a pretty trash MLB roster, other than the Pujols-Molina-Wainwright trifecta plus Chris Carpenter. And it should probably be noted that Mo was the scouting director when Pujols and Molina were drafted, and the assistant GM when we signed Carpenter and traded for Wainwright.

He was good in his earlier years. Too bad he became complacent and a lapdog for the increasingly crappy DeWitts.

There have been plenty of stars that played for teams that didnt win. Mo at least knew how to build/develop around a team with a couple superstars and a mid-market payroll. Got really good at adding guys that could bat 2nd, 6th, and 7th in the lineup of a really good team. Unfortunately without the middle meat of the lineup on the roster (as we saw in the later years) he couldn't pivot. Successful run, but we desperately needed an outside voice and mind.

Yeah, let's honor a guy who (along with the DeWitts) will have the Cardinals lurking near the bottom of the division for the next decade...or more.
Yeah, let's thank that guy.

Sorry, not sorry.
