Joshua Baez’s revival of his prospects is really impressive. He was left for dead not long ago.

I stated a few weeks ago, that being sent to a developmental squad did wonders for Josh Baez's improvement. I wonder why they don't do this for Chase Davis.

Breaking news from a MLB.com article about the teams with the most players in the top 100.
St. Louis fans have seen multiple franchise cornerstones walk out the door over the past two months, but where its Major League team is lacking, its farm system is strong. JJ Wetherholt (No. 5) is primed to take over at shortstop with a strong bat and capable defense.

Sorry Masyn, one of the top defenders in the league, you need to move over and make room for possible future DH JJ Wetherholt.Spider John wrote: ↑January 23 26, 11:29 pmBreaking news from a MLB.com article about the teams with the most players in the top 100.

I don't care about these rankings for reasons like this. They are so disconnected to the team that they assume he'll be a SS. AI assisted garbage.

Agreed. Wetherholt is a nice prospect who has a lot of questions on just how impactful he will be overall. Is he a 2-WAR guy with nice contact skills and limited defensive value? Is a 3-WAR guy who maximizes his tools and his legs stay healthy enough to get him to that level?TGantz wrote: ↑January 24 26, 8:20 amSorry Masyn, one of the top defenders in the league, you need to move over and make room for possible future DH JJ Wetherholt.Spider John wrote: ↑January 23 26, 11:29 pmBreaking news from a MLB.com article about the teams with the most players in the top 100.

Does the defy the odds and get to enough game power despite the fact he doesn't pull enough fly balls and become a 4-WAR guy? I wouldn't bet on it.
Most likely outcome is he becomes a nice, solid 2B at the big league level that you're happy to have while he's cheap. Nowhere near enough to be moving Masyn Winn off SS.

Keith Law has the Cardinals farm system ranked 11th.
The Cardinals brought in an all-new player development leadership group, and they saw immediate results with a large number of their prospects, including Joshua Baez and Tekoah Roby (the latter of whom unfortunately needed Tommy John surgery just as he was on the cusp of the majors). They have the best catching depth of any team in baseball, and they’ve already shown they can help both hitters and pitchers make real mechanical and stuff changes. There were some setbacks, including injuries to Roby, Quinn Mathews and Cooper Hjerpe, but on the whole, it was a very positive year and a great sign for the future of this system.

esp has them at 9th (up from 19th a year ago)
9. St. Louis Cardinals ($243 million)
Last year: 19th, $184 million
Top 100 prospects: 5
Top-ranked prospect: JJ Wetherholt (No. 7)
I'm fascinated by the top four of the Cardinals' system. Wetherholt might be the highest floor prospect in the top 100, and he still has All-Star upside. Rainiel Rodriguez is the rare prospect with the upside to be an average-or-better defensive catcher and hit 25 to 30 home runs annually. Liam Doyle could impact the big league team as a starter or a reliever as soon as 2026, and it already seems as if he'll be a fan favorite. Joshua Baez had one of the biggest turnarounds in the minors -- he always has had All-Star-level raw tools -- and now his production matches it. If he can hit .250, Baez might also hit 25 to 30 homers in the big leagues, and he stole 54 bases in the minors last season.
